Certified General Accountants and French public accountants expand partnership

    (Montreal, June 28, 2010) —

The Certified General Accountants Association of Canada (CGA-Canada) and the Conseil Supérieur de l’Ordre des Experts-Comptables (CSOEC), France’s foremost accounting organization, have entered into a strategic alliance.

This mutual recognition agreement (MRA) broadens an earlier agreement between the CSOEC and l’Ordre des comptables généraux accrédités du Québec (CGA-Québec). Under this accord, CGAs and members of the CSOEC can be considered for membership by the other body. All members will be required to meet the prescribed professional requirements for public accounting in the jurisdiction where they wish to practice.

“This MRA reinforces the strong relationship between our two organizations and expands workforce mobility between our two countries,” said Joseph Zorgniotti, President of CSOEC France. “It means that CSOEC members wanting to work in Canada and CGAs who want to work in France or for French companies will have greater career opportunities.”

“Our organizations share numerous common interests and this agreement will make it easier for us to develop them,” said Anthony Ariganello, President and CEO of CGA-Canada. “We both have a global perspective on the accountancy profession and place a high value on professional and educational standards.”

This is CGA-Canada’s fourth MRA with a foreign accounting organization. Details are available on cga.org/canada/alliances.
